August 22 2008 update: Please note that due to the extreme popularity of this article (730+ comments), I opened a forum located at: http://www.dailycommonsense.com/forum/. It’s still fairly new, but let’s build the forum the same way we built those 730+ comments in here. Thanks and enjoy your visit!
What is all that 2012 fuss about?
The year 2012 is referring to the last year of the Long Count Maya calendar. The current Great Cycle, as the Mayas call it, is set to end on the winter solstice of 2012: December 21 2012. Many people believe that on that date, the world will change and never be the same. Some predict terrible events resulting in the destruction of our world and some predict that it won’t necessarily end, but we will enter a new era and massive changes will occur.
This article will try to answer most questions you may have in a rational and scientific way. There’s too many websites creating some sort of fear propaganda around 2012 and as you will see, you have nothing to be scared of.
There’s too much disinformation going on about this subject and what you’ve read so far about the end of the world in 2012 is probably false. There’s an article you can read that was publish around 1990 and it kind of reminds me our current situation about 2012:
What will happen on December 21 2012?
Quick answer: Nobody knows, but probably not much.
There have been a lot going on regarding the 2012 prophecy recently, including the recent movie “I am legend”. But but not much information about what is really supposed to happen on that date is available. This is Probably because nobody knows and also because probably not much will happen. Most information available about 2012 solstice is making reference to mass destruction of the world as we know it, earth’s poles shift/magnetic reversal, Nostradamus predictions, end of Mayas calendar, etc.
The base of all the predictions is the end of the Maya calendar in 2012, which is supposed to mean the end of the world or a period of radical changes. In fact, the end of the Maya calendar is known as the end of the Great Cycle. People find it easy to believe in that theory because Maya civilization is known for advanced writing, mathematics and astronomy. It can seem like they know what they’re talking about, but the truth is that the end of the Great Cycle is not the end of the world, it’s in fact a great celebration for the Mayas:
For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle” says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is “a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.”
From USA Today
On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years(Milky Way is one of billions of galaxies in the observable universe. The Galaxy has special significance to humanity as it is the home galaxy of the planet Earth). This special alignment means that the usual energy that typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 2012 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time. Scientists are actually in great doubt about the fact that the Mayas even knew what they were talking about.
Astronomers generally agree that “it would be impossible the Maya themselves would have known that” says Susan Milbrath, a Maya archaeoastronomer and a curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History. What’s more, she says, “we have no record or knowledge that they would think the world would come to an end at that point.”
From USA Today
Putting apart scientific data, here are the commons beliefs of the December 21 2012:
- Galactic Alignment. This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000, this is considered as the end-date in the Mayans Long Count calender. It is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator.
- A comet hitting Earth (Nostradamus)
- Read my article on Nostradamus to discover the real truth about Nostradamus: Nostradamus is not a valid argument!
- Earth’s Pole Shift/Magnetic reversal
- Read my article on pole shift to discover the real truth about 2012 and pole shift: What is that pole shift thing and What is that pole shift thing part II
- Increase of calamities, natural disasters, mass destruction, etc.
I don’t want to repeat myself but all of this is very vague as nobody knows and the world is not at its first doomsday prophecy. There have been a lot of “Unfulfilled” prophecies in the past and you can have a look at this Wikipedia document for a list of unfulfilled religious prophecies.
What I find quite interesting about the 2012 theory is that there’s not much publications from well respected scientific organizations. NASA has published a couple of articles about the pole shift, but nothing else that could reveal a certain fear of the end of the world.
2012 conspiracy theory
I mentioned in the “What will happen” section that there’s a lack of scientific information coming from well respected sources like NASA. Some people claim there’s a conspiracy theory behind the prophecy to hide it from the public so they don’t create mass panic. Now, this doesn’t make sense.
At first, it sounds like a it could be true because I totally agree the government could restrain publications from the NASA as it’s a governmental agency.
Do you really think something as big as the end of the world wouldn’t leak from that agency? Keep the NASA apart, do you really think the scientific community would miss something as big as that? When there’s no scientific data about a subject, you really have to doubt.
You’ve probably read a lot of information on websites from people claiming they know more than they should know and that the government is hiding all this information from you. Government is hiding a lot of things from you, more than you probably imagine and they would probably try to hide the end of the world if it was to happen. Now let’s picture this: The Mayas were there 1000 years before Christ which makes 3000 years from now. Do you think someone could hide the end of the world for 3000 years if it was really to happen and was really that possible and scientific?
No.
Pole shift/reversal, the only 2012 end of the world possibility
The only rational “2012 End of world” possibility is actually pole shifting. A Pole shift is a rare phenomenon and characterized by the north and the south poles swapping places. Such reversals, recorded in the magnetism of ancient rocks, are unpredictable. They come at irregular intervals averaging about 300,000 years; the last one was 780,000 years ago. I wrote an article on pole shift that explains the whole process, have a look: What is that pole shift thing?
Such event could really disrupt our planet that’s true. Imagine the North pole and South pole swapping places: Telecommunications, animals, humans, etc. would all be affected and it would be a really important change. There’s only one thing you need to consider… I’ve read in a lot of different places that a polar shift is going to happen on December 21 2012 and it is totally false:
Polar shift is a process that roughly takes 5,000 years to complete and doesn’t start on a specific date and time. The real truth is that nobody knows when the next one is due.
The process takes time and another myth wants the earth’s magnetic field strength to be near zero during that transition time. It would actually be as strong as it is now but simply a lot more complicated. Once again, it is explained in my What is that pole shift thing? article.
Will I die on December 21 2012?
I can’t tell, the Mayas can’t, Nostradamus can’t and the aliens can’t. On December 21 2012, a comet won’t hit the earth, a pole shift won’t happen instantly and a massive gravity burst won’t happen either. The only thing you can fear is a pole shift and it takes 5,000 years to complete. I’m pretty sure you won’t survive that long.
How to survive 2012
You will survive 2012. Unless you die before that.
What if you’re wrong?
In the case that I am wrong, that every scientist on this planet is wrong and that the NASA can’t figure out a simple galactic alignment that would put our world to an end then I guess we are all in the same situation. You, me and everyone will die. Scary isn’t it? Fortunately it shouldn’t happen. Don’t like the use of “shouldn’t”? That’s because no one can tell what will happen tomorrow or in 2012.
Hope you enjoyed
I hope you enjoyed reading on the 2012 end of the world prophecy and that you are looking at it in a completely different way. Post your comments and come back to Daily Common Sense for more scam debunking.

this thing about the “planet x” or nibiru ore what ever you want to call it, was startet by a crazy lady i don’t remeber the name of. but she said it would happen in 2003, in a book she wrought.
When this didn’t happen, she explained that it was just to trick the none belivers, it was actualy going to happen in 2012 12 21.
And that was a preaty good date to sett the apocalips too, because so many other predictions about that date had been in circulation ever since the mayen callender had been common knwoledge.
and IF it was a planet of some sort comming towards us, and was to pass in that date, it HAS to be in visual range by now! atleast with telescopes. privately bought once. and the government can’t silence every tom, dick and harry of the world!
it has to be closer than pluto, and you can see that with fairly “cheep” once, private people can own! and this “planet” in question is supposedly MUTCH bigger!
It’s also people talking about a lether sent out by a norwegian politician, telling about a network of underground bases for the norwegian elite chosen to survive this event. these shelters is supposed to hold 2 000 000 people! the share size of these shelters is to big to have been built without EVErY ONE knowing!
for example: The tunnel from england to france is one of the largest building projects ever to have been undertaken by mann! and the tunnels are VERRY big! If you put 200 000 people down there, eatch person would have 1 x 1 meter to live on. (and that is without food, water and medecine storage.) and the manpower needed to construct this was imence.
so this is just some hippie, new age nonsense, started eather to make money, ore just fore laughs.
I hope NO ONE loses any sleap over this! but i know it’s easy to do so! i also once did, over things like this…
but just remember; the world will NOT end! atleast not now or in the near future! there is NO evidence of this.
live youre life like you always have done, or bether!
I am just som random guy of the internet, but if you need to ask about eanything regarding this subject, pleas contact me. I have studied this thing fairly through, and now i can put many wories to rest! and sorry for my bad grammar.
if you want to contact me, you can do this on paalsj@start.no
and i hope more people will be help in putting worried peaoples minds to rest! It’s realy hard to go around with things like this on theire mind! i’ve been there my self when i was younger!

i started crying tears of happiness when i read this.
i’m only 13 years old, and when i heard that my life might end when i was 17, i was terrified.
I’ve been freaked out about this for a few months. it seems like it’s the only things running through my mind.
This really made me feel so much better…
what can I say…
I love you for putting this on the internet.

OK, just found your website on google, and let me just take a minute to respond here…
First of all, I’m not seeing any relevant information here contradicting the notions of concern that average human may have concerning this particular date. You cite the Mayan calender as the sole source of fear-mongering, and neglect to mention the other idiosyncrasies that occur when further studying this potentially important date. The I-ching, and the studies of a one Terrance McKenna, found a strikingly similar correlation with the Mayan calender when focusing on the significance of the winter solstice of 2012. There is a program called the ‘Web bot’ that has been strikingly accurate in its predictions, including but limited to, the prediction of the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004. These are just a few other resources that I would suggest you start debunking before you console the world that all is well with 2012.
Also, draw two statements from a USA Today article that clearly was written to debunk any relevance of said date, and then make inferences like ‘every scientist on the planet’ is behind what you are saying. I certainly don’t think that every scientist in the world share in your views, and God help us if they did.
I do agree with your general consensus that we should not fear what will happen. There is no certainty in life, and no one knows for sure what will happen on the winter solstice in 2012, yet alone what will happen tomorrow. Maybe it’s mass extinction, or maybe it is a shift of evolutionary proportions. Fact is, no one knows. But to suggest that you have all the answers, and then create cute little buttons so people can feel better about their futures is detrimental to the human race. Please reconsider your views by actually doing more research into the subject and addressing both sides of the issue, not just a few scientists’ opinions and a handful of personal interjections. try to live up to your websites’ name, and exhibit true common sense.

I have read a lot on the 2012 doomsday. And you are 100% right! our only worry would be a pole change which like you said takes 5000 years anyways! so we have absolutely nothing to worry about. and I see 2012 as a special year! People will celebrate how long we’ve come on this magnificent planet and we will have many brilliant years ahead of us! I’ve also heard about Planet X, I’m not sure I believe that will have any effect on us. Also the only thing i see happening in 2012 is WW3. But who knows right? Thanks so much for your articles, I was very scared for how my life and how the world was gonna last in 2012. I was worried to death. I’m only 15 and I don’t wanna die at just the age of 19. Again thank you very much, tears of joy have flowed to my eyes while i read this. Bye.
November 13th, 2008 at 2:34 am
Okay, so if you’re wrong, we all die in the cataclysm, who is buying the last round? Better be you, especially if you’re wrong! Joking aside, awsome article– way fun to read! Thanks for setting the masses straight on this. God knows I was up all night planning to build an underground-cave-bunker-thing to protect myself from the peril of 2012.

Hi guys, I totally agree… the world will not end but something

Well to add to this whole global warming issue the whole premise is that supposedly what is one of the factors in causing temperatures to rise is supposedly methane gas well whenever you pass gas the gas you are passing is methane gas so I guess this means that we all are contributing to global warming! This whole 2012 thing & global warming is yet another fabrication by some bored idiots that want to scare you & yet people still fall for it & let it plague them & their whole lives. Maybe the world wouldn’t be so bad if people would learn to educate themselves & not be so ignorant. Yes it is inevitable that the earth is going to change over time, but I live in Arizona & if global warming is supposedly soooooo horrible as everybody makes it out to be then why have we have had one of the coolest summers in over 5 years? Last year the record high was 120 degrees this year maybe 102 degrees so that doesn’t make any sense. Ever since this tree hugging phenomenon has been thrust down our throats by the left wing accomplices in the media looking at different ways to make more money off of the ignorant public everybody has been going along with it because we have been taught to believe whatever we read & see on TV, etc… of course the government is going to make you think what they want you to think hence the reason that over 80% of the media is owned partly by our own wonderful US government, but I guess you didn’t know that either. Get the facts, look at both sides of every issue & think for yourself for once people stop being one minded.
November 4th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
I actually don’t believe that global warming is man-made, so I got nothing to worry about.
November 3rd, 2008 at 8:55 pm
You have no idea how much better this has made me feel!!! I have been so worried about 2012 now for about a year…..not really so much because of the idea of dying as much as I don’t want to feel much pain. as well I don’t want to have to feel like I have to live my life before a certin time.
Honestly I don’t care when I die, I just don’t want to know when it is going to be.
So once again I thank you.

Thanks ben for this article and all the people who left with meaningful researched information. Personally in the past I had been scared of the nostradumas thing, 911 conspiracy, LHC, and just recently the 2012 thing. I have found myself getting more and more mature after these theories got debunked one by one. One thing I learned is that internet is a very “lack of regulation world” and they can produce whatever info that’s totally BS and as more and more webpages cites it, people modifies it. A BS can be made real at least sounds real. I found website like this one I’m commenting on is really a pearl in a pond of mud. I briefly looked at dcs’s goal of running this place. I found it very meaningful and worth everybody bookmarking. Indeed there are now just too much hoax going on on the internet, as well as in life. more and more people use the “fear factors” for their own interest. people now days has been bombarded by all this media BS no wonder they acted weird sometimes since their mind is shaking and think they are living in movies. Indeed comonsense is not common anymore, more and more it is so. I wish people could all have faith in the real faith and real authority than those internet trash. finally I give my full support to this site and I will visit here more often.

yuh, i dont believe the end of the world will happen, no one knows when it will.. Could be tommorrow? in a couple of 1000 years or HEY it could be today… But wait til december 20th 2012 people will go mad.. and im almost sure the news will mention something like “Tomorrow? The end of the world? stayed tuned and find out” why? simply because of publicity and they know they’ll get alot of attention.. actually december 20th is what im scared of.. people are seriously going to go phsyco and probably alot of them kill themselves like they did before the year 2000. anyways i found all these bunch of predictions that never came true since like the 1990’s

Bill Gates’ “Doomsday Vault” is for a variety of different SEEDS. Its not a place for people to go if there is some kind of nuclear Holocaust or something like that. Its to preserve seeds in case a disease wipes out certain kinds of crops. It has nothing to do with 2012!
September 29th, 2008 at 11:12 am
SolReka, I hope I didn’t insult you on anything that I said.I wasn’t saying it to be rude.I’m just freaked out about this whole entire situation. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t think about it at least once a day. I totally avoid the history channel and sci fi channel now, because I can’t handle anything on the subject. I can’t even watch movies that remotely show anything dealing with the earth andd things.. it’s freaking me out.. but i’m trying my best to just get through this so that I can have a bud light lime on December 22nd,,, and laugh at all the BS that I worried myself so much with…. LOL
September 29th, 2008 at 1:07 am
concerning the solreka web page trust me when i say i have done some research
1. the mayan calendar does not end december 21, 2012, it moves on to the next cycle that started back in 3114 BC (a date with no significance whatsoever, just a mythical so I’ve found in a book about the mayans), so yeah, it does go on beyond that date but why this date?
2. the winter solstice is in this date and so does the sun complete a cycle around the milky way that lasts approximately 26,000 years. Ok so 26,000 what does this mean? it has happened before and earth is still here, since our planet is millions of years old…
3. I will quote an EXPERT on this one :
• Question
Real science is predicting the next/current sun cycle to be the worst in 50 years. The first two sunspot’s of 2006 are moving in reverse direction. On the winter solstice of 2012, the noonday Sun exactly conjuncts the crossing point of the sun’s ecliptic with the galactic plane, while also closely conjuncting the exact the center of the galaxy. To what extent is this fact true?Is it going to cause any harm to mankind or normal course of life??
Much of what you are attributing to “real science” actually is not true. While astronomers a couple of years ago were predicting that the next solar maximum would be higher than normal and occur around 2012, these predictions have been revised in view of the very slow (or late) start of this solar cycle (the Sun has been almost free of sunspots for the past year). Probably the next solar maximum will not happen until after 2012, and we don’t know if it will be greater or smaller than average. The rest of your story, about the ecliptic (which is the Sun’s path) crossing the galactic plane near the winter solstice, happens every year. The same is true for the galactic center. Besides, alignments of celestial objects have no influence whatever on Earth. In all these respects, December 2012 will be just like very other December, and there is no danger to humans or the normal course of life. The biggest real natural hazard we face is from global warming and loss of habitat, which is unrelated to celestial events.

There you go, very nice!
• Question
I realize everything that is said on 2012 is an internet hoax. The only concern I still have is the next solar storm in 2011 or 2012. I heard on PBS that the rays from the solar storm are blocked by our Earth’s magnetic field. I also heard from another source that our magnetic field is getting weaker and it is almost not there. Do you know how well our magnetic field can protect us from the next solar storm.
Don’t worry about the next solar maximum; this happens every 11 years (approximately) and is no danger to life on Earth. The small fluctuations in the Earth’s magnetic field are also not a concern; our magnetic field is plenty strong enough to protect us and is very unlikely to decline (or reverse) for thousands of years. The claims that the magnetic field may not be here 4 years from now are just another part of this big Internet hoax, which keeps coming up with one fictitious threat after another to scare people. The only real danger to life that I know of comes from a combination of global warming and loss of habitat. That is a global environmental problem that is serious enough for everyone to be concerned about and to take actions to reverse.

4. the LHC is explained here in DCS but I will also quote my dear astrobiologist
• Question
I have been reading a lot about the Large Hadron Collider. It seems like a very exciting experiment. I have also read about two “scientists” in Hawaii filing suit claiming that it will produce microscopic black holes or killer “strangelets” that will destroy the Earth. I have a family member who is so upset by this notion, that she has been prescribed medication to soothe her anxiety. In your expert opinion, does this machine have the power to destroy the Earth?
I don’t know much about the current lawsuit from Robert Wagner, but it sounds very much like a replay of a similar warning from the same person In 1999. At that time Wagner claimed that the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) might also create a mini-black hole that could ultimately expand to destroy the Earth. Bob Parks of the American Physical Society reported that the BNL Director, Jack Marburger (now the President’s Science Adviser), named a distinguished panel of physicists to investigate. Their report noted that nature has been conducting the same kind of reactions for billions of years by colliding heavy-ion cosmic rays with the Moon. This study concluded that creation of a black hole is “effectively ruled out by the persistence of the Moon.” Another reason for skepticism is that Wagner is not a physicist, and he does not seem to be supported by any physicists. Thus I’m not worrying, and I don’t think your family members should worry either. David Morrison

7. I don’t know about this one…
8. the planet can be better because it is full of human beings

There is no reason to fear 2012
@Mamma Mia, I am the person behind SolReka, many thanks for your input. I’m glad you found my site ‘freaky’. The sole purpose of my blog is to arouse the inquisitive mind in all of us, and to help people find ‘their’ own truth about the world in which they live.
Regarding 2012, it matters not. There are clearly two kinds of people in this world, those who believe events will occur, and those who don’t. Once again it is up to you, the reader, to research and educate yourselves regarding the plethora of subjects on 2012, and to disseminate fact from fiction.
I agree many people are starting to cash in on the whole 2012 conspiracy, but their are others who aren’t attracted by the whores of money, power, control and greed. We simply seek the truth.
It is much easier to hate than it is to love, and on that same token, it is also much easier to criticize, mock, and dismiss than it is to learn and understand new frontiers.
Only time will tell regarding 2012. It is up to you (the reader) and you alone to search for the real truth.

That anonymous person was me, no idea why it doesn’t automatically show up as vehs like it did on the old site.
This LHC machine is suppose to great for science in discovering more about the earths history. Could uncover more interesting facts that we had no idea about from the earths past. A scientisist from that machine also said that particles smash into earth everyday at a waaaaaaaaaaay more powerful rate than what this machine will be using and it’s been doing this for 4 billion years and well nothings happened lol
September 26th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Thanks Anonymous… i kinda thought it was an opinion as well.. but it makes ya think. Know what I honestly don’t understand though? Is the LHC. What exactly is this machine.. is it going to be something dangerous to all of us down the road? Or is it something that is going to help us? I’ve tried reading up on it, but i’m just lazy… and scared to read something I don’t like… so maybe someone can possibly explain it to me alittle?
Andy,,, poor little one.. i have a daughter your age, and she just started hearing things about this, so I know your scared, but honestly, don’t be. I tell my daughter all the time, don’t waste your time worrying about something that may or may not happen.. (i’m sure nothing will). Just live your life, have fun, play video games, go out with your friends, and just worry about what your going to get on your next test… that should be the only thing to worry about at your age…hugs to you.
September 26th, 2008 at 8:15 am
Andy, I’ve been freaking out about the world ending since I was 10 and now I’m 20 and nothings happened haha
Mamma Mia I just had a look at that site and it’s just an opinion to me.
1.no one knows exactly why the mayan calender ends in 2012 but the best bet after alot of research is because of this new golden age which just means earth becomes more peaceful and a better place and it doesn’t happen in an instant on 12/12/2012 it’s happening now (apparently)
2. It’s been confirmed by NASA that there is no galactic planetory planetarium milky way solar system galaxy whatever and that earth won’t be in the centre of the galaxy, it’s a big internet hoax and the solstice happens every year they just use that to make it more scary and as “evicence”
3. The sun had worse storm thingies during it’s normal 11yr cycle in the 1950s and earth was completely fine. NASA seem quite interested in this one and not worried at all because there shouldn’t be anything to worry about
4. I would believe scientists who spend days and months and years testing this LHC machine than the opinion of internet people. They do thousands of tests to make sure there’s no faults and the black holes they make are microscopic and last for a billionth of a second and poeple thought this was gonna kill us all a few weeks back, it didn’t, it won’t

i live in brooklyn and im freaking out! here i am counting down the days (not really) til we all die. im only 19! i wanna get married and have kids!! i would go on all these sites about 2012, and it gets me even more nervous. but then i realized that some ppl are saying the end of the world is dec 21st 2012, and some say dec 12th 2012. what the hell? which one is it?! thats one of the reasons y i dont believe the worlds gonna end in 2012. i believe that its not gonna end but then im kinda iffy.. i mean in 2000 nothing happened! we’re still here! im not into tha whole church believeing in god thing, and they believe that gods gonna put a stop on all this. question: how the heck could he do that?
pls tell me.
=\
why should EVERYONE BELIEVE this calendar?
i found this site very comforting.
thanks:)

My son, who is 9, saw the 2012 prediction somewhere and has been obsessing since. I’m glad that I saw your work. I can hopefully convince him that there is nothing to worry about.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:37 am
There will be NO “alignment with the galactic center”. Why are you falling for this? GO ASK an astronomer. NO such alignment will happen because our sun is ALWAYS in alignment with the galactic center, we go around it like a wheel, duh.
Sure, the wheel turns every 26,000 years, but so what? There is no point when we are more aligned with the center than at any other point. And guess what? Once every 24 hours, the earth, sun, and galactic center are all in a straight line - you can’t get more “aligned” than that.
We WILL have the solstice on that day, but THAT HAPPENS EVERY FRICKING DEC 21ST, and when it happens, it is always aligned with the galactic center. BY DEFINITION: The solstice is the intersection of the galactic plane and the ecliptic. Jesus folks get some education about science.
Scientific illiterate morons…………………..

September 16th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
thank you soo much!
i was soo scared, and couldn’t sleep.
i hope everything turns out the way
you said it, and thanks for reassuring me.
do you think on the day before 12.21.12
everyone will be warned? will the news
be involved? or no?
September 16th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
What of the whole talk of the sun spots//solar flares around that time?
September 13th, 2008 at 8:12 am
Thank you for reassuring me. However, I am still baffled because I thought you said the end of the world will happen possibly because of pole shifting, because of the sentence “The only rational ‘End of the World 2012′ theory is actually pole shifting.” Does pole shifting mean the world will end? Help me out here.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REASSURING ME! All this media crap is getting out of hand and is scaring the shitload out of me. I hope nothing “bad” will happen on that day but just in case, I’ve decided to move the dining room’s table to our basement, grab my ski helmet and hide under it…YEAH I’m actually THAT serious!! XD Oh and by the way, these “end of world” predictions are also on news shows http://www.december212012.com/ I wonder how people will react the day before December 21 2012…madness or total ignorance? What do you think?
September 11th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
I am so glad I found this website. With them testing that “Big Bang” theory in France and some scientists believeing that the repercussion of that wont show up until 4yrs later (which would be 2012)-that by doing this experiment it would cause little black holes within our universe which would cause our earth to fall into a black whole–they said it wouldnt happen till 4yrs later…then reading the Mayan Calender, it kind of just fell into place….but reading your website and other peoples comments reassures me that this is jsut another “prediction” that doesnt come true. But what do you think about that experiment in France???
September 11th, 2008 at 1:29 am

All year it’s said “things” will happen from 2008-2012 and nothing has happened and now it says 2009-2012 hahahah they’re fucked and if do you some googling it was all ment to happen from 2005-2012, then 2006-2012 then 2007-2012 hahaha these people are just trying to scam you to make some $$$$ and this new design is confusing Ben!

Let’s put a little light onto the stress brought on by what might happen and think about what has not happened.
“They lied to us: THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE FUTURE - where is my jetpack, where is my robotic companion, where is my dinner in pill form, where is my hydrogen fueled automobile, where is my nuclear powered levitating house, where is my cure for this disease?”
September 1st, 2008 at 4:41 am
Wasn’t the world suppose to end like 9 years ago in Y2k?
August 29th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
someone said:
“Don’t kid yourself scientists are preparing for any catastrophic event storing seeds of plants in remote frozen caves. Most scientists don’t hold their breathe to any 2012 predictions but they are aware of events that have occured in the past that could easily occur again.”
Some scientists are storing seeds from all over the world…I think in one of the Scandinavian countries, but NOT because of 2012. It’s more because of Monsanto’s GM crops, which could contaminate other nearby crops. Monsanto also produces seed for “seedless” crops like grapse and watermelons, forcing farmers to buy seed each season rather than saving seed which has been done since the beggining of agriculture thousands of years ago. And possibly becuase of the threat of nuclear war, which is far more worrisome (and likely) than 2012 paranoia.
August 27th, 2008 at 5:23 am
I don’t know if anything is going to happen and it doesn’t really matter. It’s not like we can build spaceships and take a yearlong vacation to some other star system and come back to see if anything bad happened. If it’s time to die, it’s time to die.
I don’t agree with the usual “do you think the government could keep a secret this big” type of bull. The fact that we’re talking about whatever the secret is might be an indication that the secret is out. A secret can leak out, but if we can’t get our hands on the proof, it get’s thrown into the pile of crackpot theories and disinformation. And about deep, dark government secrets, if terrorists are smart enough to have cells that only know a small part of a plan, don’t you think the government would be at least as smart? This related line from the article is kind of silly:
“Do you think someone could hide the end of the world for 3000 years if it was really to happen and was really that possible and scientific?”
If the Mayans had advanced knowledge that we do not have today, mainstream scientists don’t need to hide anything since they don’t possess the knowledge. If it’s true that a small group of people learned advanced ancient knowledge and had it destroyed long ago so the rest of us could never get our hand on it, there could be a small part of the government that has all kinds of secrets, abilities, and knowledge that would blow our minds. If a scientist who works for a shadowy appendage of the government was able to share what he knows with the world without getting killed, he’d be discredited pretty quick and most people wouldn’t believe him anyway.
Chronic skeptics, gullible dimwits, and everyone in between are in the same boat. The secrets that affect us all will eventually come out, but only after it’s too late. In other words, we’re screwed.

I know for sure the government isn’t hhiding anything about 2012! I see books about this year everday and every once in a while their is a television special. If the government is hiding info on this year than they aren’t doing a very good job! The only threat to the world in 2012 is the pollution created by humans and nukes which are problems that are both being fixed!
August 21st, 2008 at 8:15 pm
thanks. i was really scared about what might happen that day. and you made me remember what yopu stated at thew end of this article: you dont know what will happen tommorow, how will myou know what will happen on december 21st. and then whole mayan calendar ending doesn’t mean the whole world will end, it just means a cycle is over and a new one will begin. thank you so much for taking my fear and raping it up the ass so many times it locked itself in a bathroom with a tube of soothing cream
in short thanks dude

I’m glad to see that no one believes the earth will be destroyed because if it happens there is a possibility it wont be destroyed, just look around you. Before you go around claiming this and being confident about that, you should use your intelligence.
1. the huge crater in Chesapeake Bay 90 km 35.5 million years old
2.Sierra Madera in Texas 13km 100million years old
3.Barringer Arizona 1.2km 4000 years old. oooh very recent huh?
4. Manson Iowa 35km 73.8 million years. What are all these? Craters caused by something huge coming from space and the earth is still here in the present. And if you want to go deeper. What happened to all the dinosaurs? Obviously something killed them off, but we don’t know exactly what, but the earth is still here. We find science so amazing but never really think its science and we can study it because of evolution on earth. Like i said there is nothing to fear, but fear itself so quit complaining because you don’t want to change our old habits. The only reason Chesapeake Bay is here for us to enjoy it is because of change, so quit stressing over something we have no control over all we can do is live our lives and be content. I was just talking to my wife about this whole 2012 thing and she said the only reason the Maya put an artificial date on this prophecy is because humans respond very well to deadlines. I had to think about it for a second then i discovered something else. The only reason we don’t pay the other prophecies much attention is because they have no deadline or artificial date attached to them. Just think, the whole Iraq war got out of control because they had no specific timetable for withdrawal, so soldiers like myself were tired of the crap going on in the U.S.
Its time to get to work we have a lot of rebuilding to do on earth.
Peace
